Small Animal Care

Care for all

You want to be off on holiday, guilt free, knowing that your pet is loved and cared for.

You’ve booked some time off. Finally!! Getting some good R&R – but your little one, be that a lizard, snake, rabbit, mouse, tortoise or even a hedgehog has to be looked after. You have a couple of options, such as kennels, but taking them out of their own environment is going to be stressful for them and a lot of hard work for you.

Why not consider someone coming into your home, instead. Book in some time with Rove for us to come and visit your little one, meaning that you have the added comfort of knowing that someone is caring for your pet and keeping a careful eye on your home. Your post isn’t gathering up, and there’s some activity there.

ROVE to the rescue!

That’s where Rove can help! Being a pet care professional, it is our mission to make your pets (and you!) as comfortable as we can, so you can relax and enjoy your time away, with no need to worry, about your home or your pets. You know that that everything is being looked after and that you’ll know very swiftly if something is wrong.

We all know the prepping stage before going on holiday is busy. We know that you need someone you can trust to keep an eye on your house, and someone who can provide care for your pet to as close a standard as possible – whilst not increasing your workload when you’re home again.

Because let’s face it, you’re going to have so much washing to do, that you don’t need to haul your pet, their food, toys, blankets or whatever else back into the house, set up the terrarium or have to deal with a mess that pet sitter has made.  Care, discern and attention to detail is why Rove your only choice for small animal care!

Looking after your house and pets

We feed, water, change any bedding necessary and spoil them with a few treats too! We can provide cuddles and love, not to mention groom or whatever is necessary. We’ll collect post and store it safely, check on whatever in the house needs to be checked on, take out your bins if necessary and water plants.

We won’t even add to your rubbish with bedding changes or any rubbish created whilst we’re there. Your home will be exactly how it was left, with happy pets, and an easy return to regular life.

Service price

Small animal visits start at £10.

How it works

If you want to go ahead, first, we must have a chat! I need to know what your pets need and how I can help! Book in a free meet & greet to discuss this, we can check availability for your intended dates of travel.

We take a deposit of two days, or 10% (depending on the total value of the care period) to secure your spot. The balance of which must be cleared 7 days before the start of the appointment, along with provision of a key or confirmation of alternative access, this will be returned to you after you arrive back home.

Bear in mind that we only have a limited number of spots, and they go very quickly for peak periods (such as school holidays!) so book in in advance!

Rove FAMILY

"

My husband and I used Rove to look after our Rabbits whilst we were away, the bunnies were happy and well fed when we came home, hutches were clean and they’d even brushed their long fur – we hadn’t even asked for it! Very pleased with Rove.

FAQ

Why won’t you post my key back on the last appointment?

This is a safety thing, it’s not just us being awkward. The idea is that just in case there is an issue with you getting home (Think Thomas Cook going under and thousands of people being stranded…, cancelled flights, volcanic ash etc) and you get stranded in whichever lovely holiday destination you’re in – the last thing you need is for me to have dropped your key back and for us to be in an awkward situation where there’s no one there for your pet.

There’s no need for your pet to be stranded too! So we make sure you’re home, safe and sound before your key is returned.

If I have forgotten to leave adequate food/bedding or another item - is it ok for you to pick that up?

Yes! It’s very easily done to forget something when you’re going on holiday or otherwise going out of town. It does cost a small fee, but I’m always happy to help and would not see your pet stuck.

If I give you side access for my garden pet (such as a bunny or a tortoise), is that ok, or do you need a key?

Absolutely fine! So long as I can get access to your pets food and other things, I’m happy to do it this way, though naturally this means that any tasks in the house (such as post management, or house plant watering) will be neglected.

Will you water my indoor/outdoor plants?

Yes, and it’s free! Well, free provided you don’t keep an industrial greenhouse or extensive gardens…

Will you buy live food if I can’t be there?

Of course! Just let me know what they have normally and where it’s purchased from, and for a small fee on top of the price of the items, it can easily be taken care of!

Will you care for reptiles?

Of course! I’m happy to even buy fresh food if you leave me the budget for it should they need live feeding.

Is there any animal you won’t care for?

Hah! Yes… just one. I can’t cope with spiders. I’m sorry!! I know some people adore them, but I just can’t do it. I would almost certainly be having nightmares the whole time – if I managed to sleep at all! I’m sorry, I’m only human.

What about in freak weather if my pet lives outdoors?

If you go away and there is a storm, or snow, or even intense sun – I will do my utmost to make provisions for it. I will discuss it with you before moving your pet, but if I cannot get in touch with you, I may make a decision and bring your pet into my home or similar if absolutely necessary.
